Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves coach Bob Woods announced today left wing Josh Bennett and goaltender Mike Buckley signed for the 2002-03 season.

Bennett, 22, appeared in 18 games last year with the University of Western Ontario in Canada. The 6-foot, 205-pound native of Stittsville, Ontario picked up one goal, four assists and 50 penalty minutes.

Buckley, 25, played last season with Wichita and Memphis of the Central Hockey League. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound netminder from Haverhill, Massachusetts finished with a 3-5 record, 5.53 goals against average and .842 save percentage.

"I'm really happy to be in Mississippi. Last year the university style of hockey didn't really suit me," said Bennett. "I'm a bump and grind player that likes to play physical and put the puck in the net."

"I've heard great things about Mississippi and the coaching staff," said Buckley. "I'm a butterfly style goaltender. I like to play the puck, tend net aggressively and work hard."

"Bennett is a feisty and gritty player that we expect will play a checking role," said Woods. "Buckley comes highly recommended from personnel with the Boston Bruins. I look forward to seeing both in action."

Mississippi's preseason home game is free for everyone! The puck drops at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4 against Pensacola at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Season tickets are still on sale. Drop by the hockey office at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum or call 228-275-WOLF (9653).
