Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH. – The Manchester Monarchs are proud to announce that Jeff Giuliano has been named the team's American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award winner for his outstanding contributions to the Manchester community and charitable organizations during the 2004-05 season.

Giuliano has taken an active approach to community relations this season, playing a key role in local appearances and charities through the Monarchs Care Foundation.

Two major components of the Monarchs Care Foundation are the Monarchs Goals For Success program and the Monarchs D.A.R.E. Graduation program.

Goals For Success allows kids to interact with players in an educational setting. The program is geared toward elementary students and features Monarchs players visiting schools throughout southern New Hampshire to discuss the importance of setting and achieving goals and leading a healthy lifestyle.

In partnership with D.A.R.E. New Hampshire and the New Hampshire State Police, the Monarchs have a D.A.R.E. Graduation Video that includes members of the Monarchs and a drug-free message for area youth. Monarchs players, including Giuliano, speak about the importance of staying away from drugs and alcohol. In the video, Giuliano speaks honestly about the dangers and temptations kids face nowadays, and what he faced growing up.

Giuliano, a native of Nashua, New Hampshire, recently helped the Monarchs net over $65,000 for area charities and the Monarchs Care Foundation with the team's annual "At Your Service" event. His hand-painted pottery and Build-A-Bear donations were among the top sellers at the event.

The team has held two jersey auctions this season, one for game-worn jerseys and one for the jerseys worn by the players at the "At Your Service" event. On both occasions, Giuliano's jersey was the top seller bringing in a total of $3,000 for the Monarchs Care Foundation.

In addition to the Monarchs Goals For Success program, D.A.R.E. anti-drug program and "At You Service," Giuliano has also participated in the Monarchs annual Kids Club Party and Season Ticket Holder Meet & Greet, Manchester Boys & Girls Club events, youth hockey practices, restaurant promotions, supermarket promotions and hospital visits this season.

Giuliano was also active last summer, helping out with the Monarchs Hockey School for a week in August of 2004 and participating in the Ace Bailey Golf Classic. He was also featured in an episode of Monarchs Insider, the Monarchs half-hour television show that airs on public access stations throughout the state.

In recognition of his efforts, Giuliano will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation at the Monarchs final home game on Friday, April 15 at 7:35 p.m. against the Lowell Lock Monsters.

Giuliano is now one of the 28 finalists for the 2004-05 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia.

The Monarchs are scheduled to meet the Portland Pirates on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:05 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Ticket Availability: Single seats in the Gold level and single seats in the Silver level remain for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Monarchs tickets are on sale now and may be purchased at the Verizon Wireless Arena box office. Individual tickets may also be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (603) 868-7300, or by visiting Ticketmaster on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.
