
Phantoms sign Charlie Cook

(PHILADELPHIA, April 5, 2005) - The Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League today signed defenseman Charlie Cook to an amateur tryout contact. The 6-0, 195-pound native of Port Huron, Mich. just completed his collegiate career at Cornell University.
As a senior this season at Cornell, Cook was named First Team All-Ivy League and Second Team All-ECAC after compiling career highs in points (22), goals (9), power-play goals (6) and game-winning goals (3). During his four years at the school, he recorded 70 points (16G, 54A) and 68 PIM in 129 career games.
The 22-year-old served as an assistant captain his senior year and helped Cornell lead the nation in goals allowed per game (1.29), scoring margin (1.91), winning percentage (.814) power-play percentage (.243) and penalty killing (.892).
Cook and the Phantoms are home at the Wachovia Spectrum this Friday at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and on Sunday at 6:05 p.m. against the Albany River Rats.
