Albany Devils News Release

Lowell, MA ... The Lowell Lock Monsters are proud to announce that defenseman Danny Richmond has been named the Lock Monsters' winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Lowell community and charitable organizations during the 2004-05 season.

Throughout the season, Richmond has committed himself to community fundraisers and events on behalf of the Lowell Lock Monsters. Richmond took part in practice and clinics with local youth hockey organizations, offering coaching, instruction and motivation for young hockey players throughout the Merrimack Valley. In addition to his work with the local youth hockey teams, Richmond made several appearances at the Pediatric Unit at Lowell General Hospital, delivering teddy bears to young patients. He represented the Lock Monsters at numerous autograph appearances throughout the Greater Merrimack Valley, taking time to visit with fans and sign autographs.

In recognition of his efforts, Richmond will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming Lock Monsters home game.

Richmond is now one of 28 finalists for the 2004-05 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia.
