Albany River Rats News Release

Albany N.Y. - The Albany River Rats are proud to announce that Brett Clouthier has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Albany community and charitable organizations during the 2004-05 season.

Clouthier has been actively involved in the River Rats' Community Relations initiatives by volunteering for more than 20 community appearances throughout the season. The 23-year-old has spent time working with the Capital District Mite hockey team, wrapping food baskets for needy families at Equinox, Inc., and attended school assemblies at Veeder Elementary along with a visit with special needs children at the Wildwood school.

The Ottawa, Ontario native also became involved with the Special Olympics of New York. He volunteered his time to the local branch, by attending weekly volleyball practices, establishing a new relationship between the Albany River Rats and the Special Olympics.

In recognition of his efforts, Clouthier will be awarded an etched crystal trophy as one of 28 finalists for the 2004-05 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in the 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia.

The Albany River Rats, in their 12th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils.
