March 11, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup squares off East Division rivals Elmira and Adirondack, the tenth meeting of the season between the two teams. Elmira has won five of nine meetings to date but the two teams are tied at 10 points apiece heading into the final showdown of the season at First Arena in Elmira. The two teams will square off once more, coming on April 5 in Glens Falls.

OVERTIME IS OVER: The Thunder finally saw a game end in regulation in last night's 2-0 defeat to Elmira, their first regulation tilt in their last four games. The Thunder had earned three straight overtime wins before last night, making them the first ECHL team since Reading in 2010 to win three straight games in overtime.

SILENCE OF THE LOMBS: Thunder forward Ryan Lomberg returns from a one-game suspension tonight, his first game since he netted the overtime game winner in Tuesday's win over Manchester, capping a two-goal outing that also included a power-play goal early in the third period to get Adirondack on the board. Lomberg's two tallies marked the third time this season he's scored twice and the second time in three games, adding to his two-goal effort on March 4 in Norfolk. Lomberg is second on the Thunder in rookie scoring with 25 points (12-13-25) in 30 games this season.

FIELDING OF DREAMS: Thunder netminder Drew Fielding stopped 17 of 19 shots in defeat last night in his seventh start this season with the Thunder where he has received two-or-less regulation goals in net. Fielding has a 3-3-1 record, a .954 save percentage and a 1.43 goals against average when the Thunder score two or less goals in regulation, bolstered by two shutouts. As a team, the Thunder have won eight games when scoring two-or-less goals this season.

WE GOT THAT POWER: The Adirondack Thunder power play has been on-point as of late as they connected six times on their four-game road swing, including two goals on Tuesday against Manchester. The Thunder have scored power-play goals in eight of their last ten games, including a trio of two-goal efforts which gives them 11 on the season. Adirondack has been especially efficient away from home, as they rank third in the league at 22.1%.

READY, SET, BROD: Thunder defenseman Mathieu Brodeur has led the way on the blueline as of late, despite seeing his eight-game point streak come to an end in last night's shutout. Brodeur, who collected 11 points (2-9-11) over his streak, has vaulted into the team lead amongst defensemen with six goals and sits tied for third with 24 points (6-18-24) in 57 games this season.
