Monarchs Game Day Capsule

March 11, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release

HEAD-TO-HEAD - The Monarchs and Royals will play for the eighth time this season, with the Monarchs sporting a 4-3-0-0 record against their East Division rivals. Joey Diamond leads the Monarchs attack against Reading, scoring five points (1g, 4a) against the Royals this season. Manchester catches a break with the top-three scorers against the Monarchs this season out of the Reading lineup, but Yannick Tifu has been a thorn in the side, scoring five points (2g, 3a) against Manchester.

WHERE WE STAND - The Monarchs (80 points) reclaimed the top spot in the Eastern Conference on Tuesday night, and now lead the Toledo Walleye by one point heading into action tonight. Despite dropping their overtime game to the Adirondack Thunder, the Monarchs still lead their closest division rivals by six points with 12 games remaining in the season. Manchester is 16 points clear of Reading in the East.

ROYAL LET DOWNS - The Monarchs lead the ECHL with nine wins when trailing after two periods this season, and boast a 4-5-2-1 record when trailing after two at home. Reading on the other hand has given up six third period leads (19-2-3-1), tied for most in the league. One of those blown third period leads came at the hands of the Monarchs on Feb. 17.

SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE - The Monarchs enter tonight leading the ECHL in shots with 2098 over the course of the season (34.97/game), but Reading comes to town giving up the eighth fewest shots all year, conceding only 1682 pucks on net this season (28.51/game).

GET IN THE FLOW - The Monarchs have needed some time to get into the flow of the game, increasing their period-by-period scoring as the game goes on. The Monarchs have scored the seventh fewest goals (47) in the first period of games, the sixth-most goals in the second period (62), and the second-most goals in the final frame (70).

STOUT ON THE ROAD - Reading enters tonight's game tied for fourth in the ECHL in fewest goals given up on the road (72). In contrast, the Royals have given up the seventh-most goals in the league at home (94).
