South Carolina Stingrays News Release
THE MATCHUP
The Stingrays hit the road this weekend to battle against the Norfolk Admirals for the fifth and sixth times this season. The Rays recently broke a five-game losing streak last weekend when they topped the Atlanta Gladiators 4-1. The Norfolk Admirals were in action on home ice this past weekend, splitting the series with the Elmira Jackals. The Stingrays are 3-1-0-0 versus the Admirals, with the Stingrays winning the three contests on home ice. The two teams meet again tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m.
PACAN PACES RAYS
South Carolina forward David Pacan has been on a tear lately. The forward has goals in four straight games and leads the club with 13 goals on the season. Pacan is also the team leader in assists (19) and points (32). He is just one goal away from tying his professional career high of 14 goals in a season. He posted that number during his rookie season with Cincinnati in 2012-13. Pacan's recent streak also helped him hit a milestone as his goal in the 4-1 win over Atlanta last Friday was the 50th of his ECHL career.
FORMER ADMIRALS ON DECK
South Carolina's roster features a number of players who spent time with the Norfolk Admirals when the club called the American Hockey League home. Injured forward Max Sauve, captain Andrew Rowe (currently recalled to Bridgeport), forward David Pacan and defenseman Kevin Quick all spent time with the Admirals. Quick is the most experienced of the group in Norfolk. He spent parts of five seasons in Norfolk, skating in 173 games with the admirals.
CAMERON BREAKS OUT
Rookie forward Brett Cameron enjoyed a standout weekend last weekend. He registered five points (two goals, three assists) in a pair of games. He scored a pair of goals in the first period in a 4-1 win over Atlanta last Friday. His second tally proved to be the game-winning goal, and Cameron notched his first multi-goal game since Opening Night on October 17. Cameron's three assists in Saturday's game were also a career high for points in a single game.
THE LONE LOSS
South Carolina is 18-1-0-0 when leading after two periods of play. The lone loss came in Norfolk on December 2. South Carolina led 1-0 going into the third period and fell to the Admirals, 3-1.
