Colorado Eagles News Release

Windsor, CO-The Colorado Eagles soared to their fifth straight win Friday taking down the Alaska Aces 5-2 at the Budweiser Events Center. Defenseman Sean Zimmerman scored his first two goals in an Eagles' uniform in the victory, as the Eagles scored four unanswered to close out the contest.

The Aces got on the board first when defenseman Mitch Jones scored on the power play from between the circles to give Alaska the 1-0 lead at the 11:48 mark of the first period.

Zimmerman tied it up for the Eagles scoring his first of the night, as forward Everett Sheen fed Zimmerman from behind the net into the low-slot and he fired it home to make it 1-1 with 4:45 to play in the first.

The even score wouldn't hold for long, as Alaska forward Tim Coffman gave his team a 2-1 lead late in the third period scoring from the slot with 2:21 to play. The Aces lead would hold into the first intermission.

The Eagles would tie the score at 2-2 when defenseman Collin Bowman ripped a shot from the high-slot between defenders and into the goal at the 10:53 mark of the second period. Colorado took the lead late in the second on a shot from defenseman Adrian Veideman that found its way past Aces goaltender Troy Redmann at the 18:43 mark to make it 3-2 Eagles. Colorado carried that 3-2 lead into second intermission.

Zimmerman bolstered the Eagles lead with his second goal of the night on a rebound put-back from the top of the crease, making it 4-2 Colorado with 16:09 to play in the game.

Forward Jesse Mychan sealed the win, scoring an empty-netter from the blue line after the Aces pulled Redmann in favor of the extra skater. Colorado would hold on to win 5-2.

The Eagles five-game winning streak is their longest of the season and with the victory, Colorado has now won nine of their last ten games at the Budweiser Events Center.

The Eagles and Aces face off again tomorrow night at the Budweiser Events Center. The puck drops at 7:05.
