ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, open a two-game home set this weekend against the Wheeling Nailers.

MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP
The Jackals are hosting the Wheeling Nailers tonight for the first meeting at First Arena this season. These long-time rivals have met just once this season, in Wheeling on December 6th. That meeting marked the latest in a season these two clubs have faced-off since the Jackals joined the ECHL. In that contest, Jacob MacDonald scored a shorthanded goal and Tyler Currier added a goal en route to a 3-2 shootout win with Justin Bernhardt recording the winner in the skills competition. Niklas Lundstrom stopped 42 shots faced and both attempts in the shootout to earn the win and help the Jackals continue their winning streak. This weekend's meetings mark the second and third of six total matchups this season, which is the second-lowest total in a single season between the Jackals and Nailers. This will also be the first year since the 2010-11 campaign that these two former divisional rivals have not faced off at least 13 times. Elmira is 42-32-11 all-time against Wheeling.
