LOVELAND, COLORADO - Sean Zimmerman scored twice and the Colorado Eagles erased a 2-1 first period deficit defeating the Alaska Aces 5-2 Friday at the Budweiser Events Center.

Alaska got off to great start, playing with energy and taking a 1-0 lead on Mitch Jones 3rd goal of the season, a power play goal assisted by Peter Sivak and William Wrenn at 11:48.

Colorado had an answer at 15:55 as Zimmerman popped in his first goal of the season to make it 1-1.

The Aces bounced back, making it a 2-1 game with Tim Coffman's quick wrister at 17:39. Coffman turned a Sivak centering pass from below the goal line into his 14th goal of the season. Colin Valcourt also assisted.

Things changed in the second period as Alaska was outshot 15-4 in the period, and lost defensemen Davis Vandane to injury and Garrett Haar to a major and match penalty for high sticking. Colorado scored twice, with defensemen Colin Bowman and Adrian Veideman nailing long shots through Aces goaltender Troy Redmann.

In the third period, Zimmerman batted in a short-range rebound in front of the net at 3:51 before Jesse Mychan sealed the deal with an empty-net tally from center ice at 19:36 to make the final 5-2.

Redmann finished with 26 saves while Eagles goaltender Clint Saunders knocked away 28 Alaska shots.

The Aces and Eagles meet again at 5:05 Alaska time Saturday at the Budweiser Events Center.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena to face the defending ECHL champion Allen Americans at the Sullivan Arena February 10, 12 and 13. It will be Aces Hall of Fame weekend.
