Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

THE STORY COMING IN

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits (20-17-6), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, return from their All-Star break this evening to face the first-place Florida Everblades (29-11-1) at Germain Arena. Last Saturday, Greenville opened a five-game road trip with a gritty 4-3 victory at South Carolina, in which Bretton Cameron and Joey Holka each collected a season-high three points (1g, 2a). Between the pipes, former Everblades' netminder Allen York continued his impressive midseason run with his fourth consecutive victory on the road. The Swamp Rabbits also improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight games away from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

THE MATCHUP

Tonight's game marks the sixth of 11 meetings between the Swamp Rabbits and Everblades this season, and the first of four matchups in the Sunshine State. Greenville is 2-2-1 against Florida so far including a 2-1 shootout victory in their last battle on Jan. 9. Justin DaSilva scored the Swamp Rabbits' only tally that night with a highlight-reel backhander, while Jordan Knackstedt netted the lone goal in a three-round shootout. Florida had won each of the prior three meetings in the season-series. Greenville went 1-7-1 against the 'Blades last season and is 34-19-9 all-time.

VIEW FROM ESTERO

Led by head coach Greg Poss, the Everblades are the hottest team in the Eastern Conference with 15 points in their last 10 games (7-2-1) and enter tonight's contest on an eight-game point streak dating back to Jan. 3 (7-0-1). In its last outing on Friday, the first-place club outshot Orlando 49-24 and Anthony Peters made 23 saves in a 4-1 victory at home. Offensively, Matt Willows scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season and continues to pace Florida in assists (23) and points (38). Willows is also tied for first among all ECHL rookies in points. Florida concludes a six-game homestand this weekend.

SPECIAL TEAMS PUZZLE

The Swamp Rabbits penalty kill has come to life over the last 12 games, going 32-for-35 during that span (91.4%) and a perfect 8-for-8 in the last four contests. However, the power play has been a different story, scoring once in its last 29 chances dating back to New Year's Eve (11-game span).

MIDSEASON MVP

Has anyone on the Swamp Rabbits been hotter than Allen York lately? The fifth-year goaltender earned his fourth straight win on the road last Saturday with a 23-save effort in North Charleston. In fact, York has earned all four of his wins this season since returning from the injured reserve on Dec. 27. He is 4-1-2 with a 2.09 goals-against-average and a .940 save percentage in his last seven starts. York played 26 games with Florida last season and went 17-5-3 with a 2.63 goals-against-average.

KING OF THE SOUTH

Bretton Cameron continued his dominance of the South Division last Saturday with three points (1g, 2a) against the Stingrays, now giving him nine goals, 12 assists and 21 points against division rivals (all but four of his points have come within the division). Overall, the 27-year-old, who celebrated a birthday on Tuesday, ranks third on the Swamp Rabbits active roster with 25 points (11g, 14a) and continues to pace the team with 75 penalty minutes. The sixth-year pro has already tied the most points he's ever had in a season with Greenville (25), which he amassed during the 2012-13 campaign.

AS CLOSE AS IT GETS

Eleven of the Swamp Rabbits last 15 games have been decided by just a single tally, including six of Greenville's last eight contests in the South Division. In addition, four of the five games against Florida this season have also been decided by one goal. Greenville is 12-5-6 in one-goal outcomes this year.

QUICK HITS

Scott Fleming is on a team-high four-game point streak (1g, 3a)... Greenville is second in the league with 49 third-period goals... Each of the Swamp Rabbits next four games will take place in the South Division, where the team is 12-9-4 this season.
