
Mrazek Named MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Toledo?Walleye and current Detroit Red Wings' goaltender Petr Mrazek is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for January.
The leading distributor of game- worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray has sold more than 7,000 jerseys since it became "The Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL" in 2002-03.
The 23-year-old went 7-1-1 in nine appearances in?January with two shutouts, a 1.32 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage. He allowed two goals or less in eight of his nine appearances and made at least 22 saves in seven games.
Mrazek has appeared in 32 games with the Red Wings this season posting a record of 18-9-4 with three shutouts. He is second in the NHL with a .932 save percentage and ranks third with a 2.03 goals-against average.
Selected by the Red Wings in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2010 NHL?Entry Draft, Mrazek has seen action in 73 career NHL?games going 37-23-6 with eight shutouts, a 2.14 goals-against average and a save percentage of .926.
A native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, Mrazek made his professional debut in the ECHL with the Walleye in 2012-13, appearing in three games and going 2-1-0 with a 2.02 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage. He captured an American Hockey League Calder Cup title with Grand Rapids in 2013, as well as appearing in that year's AHL?All-Star Game.
There have been 586 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including 17 who have made their debut in 2015-16. The ECHL has had 394 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 330 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last 11 seasons for an average of 30 per year.
