
Beast Add Thrower and Mele Ahead of Clash with Division Rival Walleye

BRAMPTON, ON - The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the St. John's IceCaps and Montreal Canadiens, announce today that hard-hitting defenceman Dalton Thrower has been reassigned to Brampton from St. John's and will be suiting up tonight against the Toledo Walleye.
The 22-year-old from Squamish, British Columbia is returning to the Beast after eight games played with the IceCaps this season, in which he recorded 20 penalty minutes. He has appeared in five games with the Beast this season and picked up a pair of assists and 11 penalty minutes.
Thrower spent his junior career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Saskatoon Blades and Vancouver Giants between 2010-11 and 2013-14. In 285 career games in the WHL, the blueliner recorded 42 goals and 105 assists with 414 penalty minutes.
Thrower also spent the 2014-15 season with the Beast, recording six points and 107 penalty minutes in 37 games played.
In a separate transaction, the Beast have signed Steve Mele to a Standard Player Contract. The 26-year-old from the Bronx, New York is a versatile winger capable of playing on both sides of the ice.
Mele has played for six different teams in the ECHL since joining the league in 2012-13, including the Greenville Road Warriors, South Carolina Stingrays, Utah Grizzlies, Tulsa Oilers, Kalamazoo Wings and Norfolk Admirals. He has recorded 20 points (9G, 11A) in 75 ECHL games played.
During his time in the NCAA between 2009-10 and 2012-13, he recorded 20 goals and 30 points in 130 games with American International College.
The Beast return home on January 31 as they host the Wheeling Nailers for the team's annual Star Wars game. Single game tickets are now available, starting at $16.25.
