AHL Belleville Senators

Game Day Build-Up: Senators at Crunch, November 3

November 3, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Belleville Senators News Release

The set-up

The Belleville Senators will again look to get back to .500 when they face the Syracuse Crunch for the second time in as many nights.

For the fourth time this season, Belleville (5-6-0-0) got to .500 to only lose and drop a game below as the Senators have failed to get above the .500 threshold this season.

After Friday's defeat, the Sens dropped from third in the North Division to sixth.

Syracuse (3-5-0-0) claimed its first win on home ice of the year Friday and snapped a three game slide. The Crunch have at least two games in hand on every team in the North.

Roster notes

The Senators once again lost Jack Rodewald to Ottawa and a roster move seems imminent as defenceman Stuart Percy was injured during Friday's game.

Filip Gustavsson started Friday's game against Syracuse, but was pulled in the second period in favour of Jake Paterson. Head coach Troy Mann has already confirmed Gustavsson will start tonight.

Marcus Hogberg and Logan Brown didn't travel to Syracuse as they remain out injured.

Previous history

The Sens' loss Friday to the Crunch means Belleville are now 0-5 at the War Memorial as they seek their first win in Syracuse. Belleville has only won two of nine match-ups all-time with Syracuse.

Who to watch

Sens forward Andrew Sturtz returned to the line-up for the first time in nine games Friday and bagged himself his first goal of the season in the process.

Crunch forward Alexander Volkov torched the Senators last season to the tune of 10 points and carried that into the 2018-19 season by scoring twice Friday for his first goals of the season. Volkov has five points in eight games this season.

Where to watch

Saturday's game starts at 7:00pm and can be seen on AHLTV. Fans can also watch tonight's contest at Shoeless Joe's in Belleville.

The radio broadcast on CJBQ 800 begins at 6:50pm with Jack Miller on the call.
