Orlando Solar Bears News Release
Orlando, FL - The Solar Bears snapped a 1-1 tied to take a 2-1 lead heading into the third, but Florida came storming back in the final frame to take the down the Solar Bears 3-2 at the Amway Center on Saturday night.
Florida jumped out to the early lead, taking advantage of their first power play chance of the evening. F Mathieu Roy positioned himself in front of G Christopher Gibson and deflected a shot from F Kellen Tochkin over the line at 8:20 of the first. Just 1:30 later, F Taylor Matson answered back for the Solar Bears when he took the puck up the right wall, cut in front of the cage, and slipped a backhand past G Trevor Cann to even up the score heading into the first intermission.
A little over five minutes into the second frame, the Solar Bears grabbed the lead. F Zach Harrison and F Tyler Murovich battled a puck free to D Connor Goggin who blasted a slap shot into the top right corner for the only goal of the middle period. The Solar Bears held the 2-1 advantage heading into the third.
The Everblades came out flying in the third, tying up the contest at 3:09. F John Henrion skated in along the right wing and picked the top right corner of the net to even the score. Florida grabbed a 3-2 lead at 8:34 when D Jordan Henry picked up his own rebound in front of the net and put the puck between the pads of Gibson. It stood as the game winner as Cann turned aside all nine shots he faced from Orlando in the final frame to take the 3-2 win.
