San Francisco Bulls News Release
SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Bulls (11-15-2-1) came back to beat the Stockton Thunder (14-10-0-4) in a physical contest, 5-2, Friday night at the Cow Palace. The Bulls found themselves down 2-1 early in the third period before responding with four unanswered goals. Jordan Morrison had the game winner, and two goals on the night. Tyler Beskorowany had 35 saves for his 10th win of the season as the Bulls donned Ugly Sweater Specialty Jerseys.
The tone was set early. Just 40 seconds into the game, Stockton Captain Garet Hunt was called for boarding, given a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Later in the period, San Francisco made the most of another man-advantage. Adrian Foster went for a backdoor pass but instead it banked in off Thunder netminder Parker Milner, and into the net. The power play goal gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead with 5:04 remaining in the period. Dean Ouellet and Steven Tarasuk registered assists on the play. Through 20 minutes both squads were tied at 10 shots apiece.
In the second period, Stockton found the equalizer. Shawn Boutin scored on a feed from Lee Baldwin and Matt Bergland to tie it up at 1-1. The goal came at 6:03. The Bulls had some good chances on the power play but couldn't grab the lead back. At the end of the period the game remained a stalemate. In the frame, the Thunder led in shots, 19-8.
Corey Trivino gave Stockton their first lead of the game at 6:15 in the third. From there San Francisco came storming back. Tyler Gron tied up the game on a power play goal with 8:33 remaining. Ouellet and Dale Mitchell assisted. Just 33 seconds later, Morrison added another. He received a cross-ice pass from Brett Findlay and slapped it home to give the Bulls the lead once again. Gron also had a helper on the play. San Francisco wasn't done. They got a third consecutive goal, this time from Luke Judson on the power play with 4:20 left on the clock. Foster and Kalvin Sagert had assists. The tally gave the Bulls a 4-2 lead. With 38 seconds remaining, Morrison iced the win with an empty net goal.
San Francisco is back in action tomorrow for Game 2 of this three-in-three weekend series with the Thunder. Tomorrow's game starts at 7:30 pm.
