Eagles Fall to Grizzlies 5-3

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles (17-8-3-2) lost the power play battle against the Utah Grizzlies (9-14-1-2 ) 5-3 on Saturday night at the Maverik Center. On Utah's first power play of the night, forward David Vallorani beat Eagles goalie Dustin Butler top-shelf, to give the Grizzlies the 1-0 advantage 9:16 into the first frame. Less than two minutes later, Eagles forward Jonathan Parker retaliated to tie the score 1-1. Vallorani scored his second goal of the period with one second left in the first to put Utah in the lead, 2-1.

Vallorani got his hat trick 2:49 into the second frame to give the Grizzlies the 3-1 lead. Colorado forward Kevin Ulanski made it a 3-2, one-goal game less than a minute later. Utah forward Jamie MacQueen beat Butler, five-hole, on a 5-on-3 power play to pump the Grizzlies lead 4-2.

Parker beat Grizzlies goaltender Aaron Dell and netted his second goal of the game to close the scoring gap, 4-3, 11:56 into the final stanza. Utah forward Michael Pelech capitalized on a power play for the fourth time to get the 5-3 lead for the Grizzlies and secure the win.
