Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas - In the first of a two-game series, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 5-2 to the Idaho Steelheads tonight.

Steelheads defenseman James Isaacs opened scoring at the 5:48 mark of the first with a power play goal. Idaho took a 2-0 lead on a goal from forward Gaelan Patterson five minutes later, and forward David de Kastrozza tallied a shorthanded goal to put Las Vegas in a 3-0 hole. The physical game continued, and 39 seconds after de Kastrozza's goal, Wranglers defenseman Jeff May put the home team on the board with a power play goal. To make it a one-goal game, Wranglers (C) Geoff Paukovich posted his third goal of the season with nine seconds left in the period, leaving Idaho up 3-2.

Midway through the second, Steelheads forward Mitch Wahl beat Wranglers goalie Travis Fullerton to give Idaho the 4-2 lead. Despite taking a 29-24 shot advantage into the third, the Wranglers fell 5-2 after Idaho secured a late empty net goal from forward Austin Fyten. The game was called with 1.7 seconds left after three game misconducts were assessed, and a total of 86 penalty minutes were accrued.

The same two teams meet again tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 kids age 12 and under through the doors will receive a free Paukovich jersey-styled t-shirt. If Paukovich, the team captain, registers a goal or assist in tomorrow's game, every fan in attendance will receive a free Del Taco taco in honor of "Pauko Taco Night."
