Escobedo, Cornell to Join Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Nov 15, 2013) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced that defenseman Sean Escobedo has been recalled from the Stockton Thunder (ECHL). Additionally, Florida Everblades (ECHL) defenseman Mike Cornell has signed a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Escobedo, 23, was a four-year player at Boston University. He had 33 points in his four years with the Terriers before signing a two-way (AHL/ECHL) deal with the Sound Tigers after his senior year in 2012-13. In eight games with Stockton, the Bayside, NY native collected three assists.

Cornell, 25, appeared in 128 games over four years with the University of Maine, scoring 24 points (five goals, 19 assists). He played six games with the Everblades at the end of 2012-13 and has six points (one goal, five assists) in 12 games with Florida in 2013-14.

The Sound Tigers travel to Springfield to face the Falcons tonight before returning home Saturday for a 7 p.m. game against the Hartford Wolf Pack.
