Chicago Wolves News Release
MILWAUKEE --- The Chicago Wolves ended their circus road trip on a high note with a 4-3 victory over Milwaukee on Friday night in Amtrak Rivalry action at the Bradley Center.
Forwards Chris Porter, Dmitrij Jaskin, Pat Cannone, and Corey Locke all dented the net for Chicago (8-6-0-1). Goaltender Jake Allen (8-3-1) made 23 saves to earn his fourth win in a row.
Chicago opened up scoring with a shorthanded goal from Porter at 4:47. With Milwaukee (7-3-2-1) on the power play, Nathan Longpre moved the puck into the zone and attempted a wraparound on Milwaukee netminder Magnus Hellberg. Porter finished the play by poking the deflection past the goal line.
Jaskin added insurance to the Wolves lead minutes later. A deflection off Taylor Chorney's shot from the blue line popped out to the front of the net, where Jaskin picked it up and buried it.
The Admirals got on the board with a goal from Scott Ford at 13:08. Ford blasted a shot from the point that deflected off a Wolves defenseman in front of the net, off the post and in.
A skilled passing play padded the Wolves lead in the closing minutes of the first period. Shane Harper battled for the puck in the corner and sent it to the side of the net for Tyler Shattock, who drew the defenders and Hellberg towards him. Shattock threaded a pass to Cannone, who did not miss the empty net.
Following a scoreless middle frame, the teams exchanged goals in the third period. Taylor Beck got the Admirals within one on a power-play goal at 1:55. Locke scored the game-winner with an empty Milwaukee net at 18:59, but Milwaukee responded with a goal from Mathieu Tousignant with 25 seconds left in the game.
Hellberg (2-5-1) was credited with the loss. He stopped 22 shots.
Chicago hosts division rival Grand Rapids at 7 p.m. on Saturday; the team's first game at Allstate Arena in three weeks. For tickets, call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit ChicagoWolves.com .
