Coyotes Recall Murphy from Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Connor Murphy from the Portland Pirates, the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Murphy has registered five assists and nine penalty minutes (PIM) in 10 games with the Pirates this season. He ranked tied for second on the team in assists at the time of his recall. The 20-year-old native of Dublin, Ohio appeared in 33 games with the Sarnia Sting (OHL) in 2012-13, totaling 6-12-18 and 32 PIM.

Murphy was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the first round (20th overall) in the 2011 Entry Draft.
