Cal O'Reilly Joins Comets Roster

Utica Comets Director of Hockey Operations, Pat Conacher, announced today that the team has signed forward Cal O'Reilly to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

O'Reilly, 27, has played in three games this season for the Yuzhny Ural Orsk of the Vysshaya Liga, and recorded four points (1-3-4). Prior to that, he played 14 games for the Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Kontinental Hockey League and netted one point (0-1-1). He played the entire 2012-13 with the Metallurg Magnitogorsk, and notched 19 points (3-16-19) in 32 games.

The Toronto, ON native has recorded 265 points (57-208-265) and 78 penalty minutes, in 288 American Hockey League games for the Milwaukee Admirals, Portland Pirates, and Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. He has also spent parts of four season in the National Hockey League, including the entire 2010-11 season. In the NHL, he notched 41 points (13-28-41) in 113 games for the Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes, and Pittsburgh Penguins.

The 6-foot, 187-pound forward was drafted in the 5th round (150rd overall) by the Nashville Predators in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
