ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Elmira Jackals continue their six-game season-opening home stand tonight as they take on the Wheeling Nailers in an Atlantic Division battle.
WHO: Elmira Jackals vs. Wheeling Nailers
WHAT: Elmira Jackals Home Home Game #4. The Jackals are giving away poster schedules to the first 2,500 fans through the door.
WHERE: First Arena - 155 N. Main St., Elmira, N.Y. 14901
WHEN: 7:05 p.m.
Tonight is the second of 10 scheduled meetings between the Jackals and Nailers this season, and the second of five at First Arena. The Jackals are 29-12-5 all-time against the Nailers and went 8-4-2 against them last season. Elmira defeated Wheeling 4-2 last night to claim the first game of the season series and push its win streak to three games. The Jackals are tied with Orland for the best goals-per-game average at 4.67. Wheeling, meanwhile, is playing the third of four straight games on the road to open the season. In their opener in Cincinnati last weekend the Nailers received a goal and assist each from Chris Barton and Paul Crowder but fell 3-2 in a shootout.
The Jackals have been receiving offensive contributions from throughout the lineup through the first three games. Seven players on the current roster are averaging at last a point per game with Dustin Gazley (2 pts/game) and Danny New (1.33 pts/game). Ten of the 19 skaters to play in a game have registered at least one goal and no Jackal has scored more than a goal in a game yet this season.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals are back on First Arena ice on Friday, October 26, 2012 to take on the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:05 p.m. Come dressed in your Halloween best to take part in our costume contest!
