October 20, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release
Greenville, SC : The Greenville Road Warriors special teams units did not get started off on the right foot against the Gwinnett Gladiators on Saturday night. Casey Pierro-Zabotel started off the scoring for Gwinnett with a power play goal at 14:21 in the first period. The second period started off with Bretton Cameron and Chris Clackson both receiving fighting majors. This provided a jolt to the Road Warriors as they would respond tying the game off a Jeremy Gouchie even strength goal 4 minutes into the second period. The Gladiators would tie the game from captain Andy Brandt later in the second period.
The score would hold until late in the third period when former Road Warrior Kale Kerbashian would take a roughing minor. Shayne Wiebe would take advantage of the power play and tie the game with 3:13 seconds left in the game. Wiebe would then be sent off for cross checking and the special teams were forced to perform once again for the Road Warriors. Overtime was forced and the Road Warriors successfully killed the penalty. Shortly after the penalty was killed Brandon Wong scored the overtime goal to win the game for the Road Warriors.
The Road Warriors return home on Sunday for a 4 p.m. game where the Road Warriors hold the Sunday Family Fun Day. Fans can show their BI-LO BONUSCARD at the Box Office two hours before the game and receive up to 4 free tickets in the BI-LO Family Fun Section while supplies last. After the game fans can skate on the ice with their favorite Road Warriors Players after the game.
