Idaho Authors Overwhelming End to Road Sweep

Idaho Steelheads News Release

Loveland, CO - Six different players found the back of the net and rookie goaltender Josh Robinson turned in another impressive performance between the pipes Saturday night as the Idaho Steelheads pounded the Colorado Eagles, 6-1.

The win means Idaho (3-2) collected all six possible points in the three-game road set against the Eagles.

The Steelheads shot out of the gates early, getting two goals in just over five minutes to start the game early, silencing the sellout crowd of 5,289. First, it was Sam Carrick's first pro goal from the right-hand circle on a two-on-one rush at 2:40. Then, on his first shift of the season, Ron Meyers scored a short-handed goal at 5:10 of the first to give Idaho a quick 2-0 lead.

The lead would swell to 3-0 when Jeremie Blain got loose coming right down the slot on a blown defensive assignment. Adrian Foster found Blain all alone in front and Blain would bury the wrister past a scrambling Kyle Jones at 13:30 of the first, causing Colorado coach Chris Stewart to call his timeout.

The timeout appeared to work for a time, as Colorado mounted some pressure on Idaho's net through the end of the first and early moments of the second period. However, Tristan King would end any thoughts of an Eagles rally with a wrister from the right-hand circle of the 5:32 mark of the second, his fifth of the season, to make it 4-0. Colorado would get a power-play goal at 14:14 of the period to make it 4-1, but could draw no closer.

Idaho would add goals in the third from Andrew Carroll, his fourth, and Justin Dowling, his second, in the third period to wrap up the scoring.

Blain (goal, assist), Kael Mouillierat (two assists), and Matt Case (two assists) had multiple points for Idaho, with eight other players registering at least one point. Every skater for Idaho finished the game on the "plus" side of the plus/minus ledger, while Colorado had two players finish at minus-5 and a third at minus-6.

Robinson stopped 35 of 36 shots to pick up his second pro win for Idaho. Kyle Jones takes the loss after allowing four goals on 17 shots before being relieved by Adam Brown in the second period. Idaho was 0-5 on the power play, Colorado was 1-5.

Idaho returns home to host the Ontario Reign Wednesday and Friday at CenturyLink Arena in Boise. Game time each night is 7:10 PM. Tickets are available by calling the CenturyLink Arena box office at 208.331.8497 or by going online at www.idahosteelheads.com.
