The San Diego Padres have made the following Minor League transactions:
Effective Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019
- Right-handed pitcher Edwuin Bencomo transferred from Fort Wayne to the High-A Lake Elsinore Storm
- Right-handed pitcher Carlos Guarate transferred to Fort Wayne from the Arizona League Padres 2 (uniform: #30)
Guarate (pronounced: GWAR-ah-tay) will start for the TinCaps tonight. The native of Venezuela will become the second youngest player to appear in the Midwest League this season. Born in 2001, he turned 18 on March 30. The only younger player in the MWL this year has been Jesus Gonzalez, who made his Fort Wayne debut on Thursday with five innings of one-run ball.
