Kalamazoo Wings News Release

KALAMAZOO- Exploding for four goals in a six-minute span in the first period, the Toledo Walleye jumped ahead of the Kalamazoo Wings and never looked back in a 6-4 victory Saturday night at Wings Stadium.

Anthony Luciani (9th) started the scoring for the Walleye with a wrap-around tally 8:09 into the contest.

The Walleye created some breathing room moments later registering a pair of goals 13 seconds apart. Utilizing a screen, Richard Nedomiel (2nd) pushed the lead to 2-0 with a wrister from the point. On the ensuing face-off, a neutral zone turnover proved costly for the K-Wings, as Luciani (10th) notched his second goal of the night.

Applying more pressure two minutes later, Alden Hirschfeld (3rd) registered the Walleye's fourth goal of the period scoring on a backdoor pass from Martin Frk.

Striking quickly in the second period, the Walleye went ahead 5-0 with a goal from Frk (3rd) 1:17 into the period.

Battling back Kalamazoo responded with a pair of goals. Nathan Longpre ended the K-Wings drought with his fourth tally of the season 4:13 into the stanza.

Making the most of a power-play opportunity, Longpre (5th) struck for his second of the game off a face-off draw 14:51 into the frame.

Swinging momentum back to the Walleye, Marek Tvrdon (4th) used a great individual effort to spin free in the slot, which gave him enough room to lift a wrister over Joel Martin.

Inching closer in the third period, Kalamazoo received their second power-play tally of the game from Dane Fox (4th) 8:32 into the final period.

Mike DiPaolo (1st) brought the K-Wings back to within two goals by notching his first professional goal at the 11:31 mark of the stanza. The goal was setup by a centering pass from Ray Kaunisto.
