Bembridge Leads Fuel to 5-3 Win over Cincy
November 29, 2014 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - In the third of nine head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday at the Fairgrounds Coliseum by a final score of 5-3. With the win, the Fuel improved to 4-9-2-2 overall this season and with 12 points, remain alone in seventh place in the ECHL's North Division standings.
After Michael Neal spotted the Cyclones a 1-0 lead on the power-play at 2:08 of the first period, the Fuel responded with four unanswered goals the rest of the way in the period thanks to Mathieu Brisebois on the power-play at 5:24, rookie blueliner Adam McKenzie's first career pro goal at 11:25, a Garett Bembridge marker at 15:23 and Indy captain Mike Duco's third tally of the season, an extra-man deflection at 18:51 that made it 4-1 Fuel.
In the middle frame, Cincinnati responded with the period's only two scores, from Byron Froese at 3:17 and Patrick Cehlin at 8:50, to pull within a goal of Indy at 4-3 heading into the final period of regulation. In need of a message-sending score to start the third, the Fuel turned again to the rugged veteran Bembridge, who provided once more, slipping a wraparound tally past Cincinnati goaltender Rob Madore just 59 seconds into the final stanza to establish the Fuel's 5-3 margin of victory.
In his return to the Indy goal crease following his recent call-up to the AHL's Chicago Wolves, Fuel netminder Cody Reichard stopped 28 pucks in the win, improving to 4-4-1-0 on the season. Madore made 26 saves in defeat.
