Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Reading, PA - Shawn O'Donnell, Tyler Brown and Trevor Parkes each scored twice on Saturday as the Greenville Road Warriors (11-9-0-0), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, pummeled the Reading Royals (9-6-1-1) at the Santander Arena, 8-3.

Five of the team's eight goals came during a span of just 7:10 in the second period, marking the team's highest offensive production in a frame this season. In addition, Greenville's eight goals overall marked the most for the club this season and is tied for second-most in a game peresince the franchise relocated to the Upstate in 2010.

O'Donnell (2g, 2a), Brown (2g), Hegarty (3a), Rodrigues (1g, 3a), Saponari (1g, 2a) and Parkes (2g) each earned a multi-point effort, while Jeff Malcolm (9-4-0-0) made 26 saves for his ninth win in his last 12 starts.

For the first time in the last three games, Greenville opened the scoring just 5:38 into the first period courtesy of O'Donnell's first goal of the season. From the right point, Hegarty grabbed the puck and fired a shot on target that was blocked directly to O'Donnell at the door step for the rebound tally.

Less than three minutes later, O'Donnell made it 2-0 when he pulled the trigger on a seemingly harmless wrist shot from the right side that beat Royals' goaltender Connor Knapp with no traffic in front.

The Road Warriors opened the floodgates in the middle frame with five goals in just over seven minutes. Parkes extended Greenville's lead to 3-1 at the 1:22 mark when Saponari found Parkes on the right side for his second goal of the season. Less than two minutes later, O'Donnell crossed the blue line on the left side and dropped the puck for a trailing Rodrigues, who skated to the slot and buried his third of the year at 3:13.

Saponari continued the scoring at 5:45 when he entered the zone on the left side, cut back to the middle and fired a wrist shot past Knapp's blocker side from between the circles. At 6:55, Brown made it 6-1 when he scored his third goal of the season following a feed from Rodrigues. Brown added his second of the period at 8:32 of the middle frame when he beat Knapp on a forehand shot from the left circle.

Reading's only goal of the second period came at the 2:13 mark when Brandon Alderson's wrist shot clipped the post and beat Malcolm for his first of the season.

In the third, Reading pulled Knapp for emergency backup goaltender Peter Dundovich, but the Road Warriors did not let off the pedal. Just 48 seconds in, Saponari threw the puck in front for Parkes, who crashed in on goal and tipped it home before barreling into the netminder.

The Royals notched the final two goals of the game when Pat Mullane (4:56) and Adam Comrie (8:41) earned their seventh and sixth goals of the season respectively.

Greenville finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill. Knapp (5-3-0) made 16 saves on 23 shots and suffered the loss.

The Road Warriors outshot Reading 30-29.
