Colorado Eagles News Release
Windsor, CO â The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) are 9-4-1 on the 2003-04 season, earning 15 of 16 points possible in their last eight games, and are in first place in the Northwest Division and tied for third place in the Central Hockey League with San Angelo. The Eagles begin a six game home stand this week when they take on the Lubbock Cotton Kings, November 19; face-off is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles then face off with the Indianapolis Ice Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22 at 7:05 p.m. at the Budweiser Events Center.

November 14 â Colorado Eagles vs New Mexico EAGLES 6-3
The Eagles struck early when right winger, Greg Pankewicz, scored from left winger Ryan Tobler and center Riley Nelson 1:01 into the first period. Four minutes later the Eagles struck again on a power play when Tobler netted a goal from Pankewicz and defenseman Scott Swanson. New Mexico answered the Eagles second goal 7:31 into the period when left winger Mike Possin scored from left winger Brian Barker and defenseman Arturs Kupaks. Fifty-five seconds later (8:26) Eagles Nelson netted a goal from Pankewicz and Tolber. The period ended with an Eagles 3-1 lead.
The second period remained scoreless until almost fourteen minutes into play (13:53) Nelson netted his second goal of the game from Tobler. The Eagles made it a 5-1 game when Fort Collins native, left winger, Lee Arnold scored his first goal in his first game dressed for the Eagles, the goal was assisted by forward Daniel Bohac and right winger Fraser Filipic (his first game back from past seven games on injured reserve). The period ended with a 5-1 Eagle lead.
The Eagles began the third period with 22 shots on goal to 14 shots for the Scorpions. The period remained scoreless until Eagles Nelson netted his third goal of the game and his first hat trick of the season at 12:28 (the goal was unassisted). The Scorpions center Mike Oliveira scored an unassisted goal 15:08 into the period, and the team struck again 18:58 into the period when center Chris Richards scored from left winger Peter Ambroziak and Oliveira. The game ended with a 6-3 Eagles win.
Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach saved 19 of 22 shots on goal. The Eagles out-shot the Scorpions 31-22. November 15 â Colorado Eagles @ Lubbock Cotton Kings EAGLES 3-1
The Eagles took an early lead when center, Daniel Bohac, scored his third goal of the season 4:53 into the first period from right winger Fraser Filipic. The period remained scoreless after the Eagles struck. The teams left their benches for intermission with an Eagles 1-0 lead.
Eight minutes and forty six seconds into the second period the Cotton Kings evened the score when forward Jim Shepherd netted a goal 8:46 into the period, assisted by defenseman Craig Binns and forward Chris Duggan. The period ended even at 1-1.
The Eagles right wing Phil Crowe netted a power play goal (his first goal of the season) 3:58 into the third period from defenseman Igor Bondarevs and left wing Karlis Zirnis. Three minutes eighteen seconds later (7:16) Eagles right winger Greg Pankewicz netted his eleventh goal of the season from left winger Ryan Tobler and defenseman Brad Williamson. The third period was riddled with brawls. Eagles defensemen Brent Thompson and Jesse Cook as well as right winger Phil Crowe literally knocked Lubbock totally out of the game. The game ended with a 3-1 Eagles win.
Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach saved 20 of 21 shots on goal and had incredible saves against Lubbock's power play opportunities.
November 16 â Colorado Eagles @ Fort Worth Brahmas EAGLES 5-2
The Brahmas took an early lead when left winger, Chad Wollard, scored 5:02 into the first period from forward Chad Brandimore. Although the Eagles out shot the Brahmas 9 to 5, the period remained scoreless after the Fort Worth goal. The teams left their benches for intermission with a 1-0 Brahmas lead.
Tables turned in the second period when Eagles right winger Phil Crowe netted his second goal of the season 4:53 in to the period from right winger Fraser Filipic and defenseman Brad Williamson. Colorado Eagles scoring continued when center Riley Nelson netted a power play goal from defenseman Igor Bondarevs and left winger Ryan Tobler 13:07 into the period. Five minutes and ten seconds later (18:17) the Eagles struck again when right winger Greg Pankewicz scored his twelfth goal of the season from Tobler. The Eagles not only outscored, but also out shot the Brahmas 18 to 5 in the period. The period ended with a 3-1 Eagles lead.
Eagles defenseman Scott Swanson scored 8:30 into the third period, assisted by Williamson and left wing Karlis Zirnis. The Eagles goal was answered 11:02 into the period on a Brahmas power play when defenseman Robert Fail scored from centers Shawn Roed and Jason Reesor. Fourteen minutes and thirty nine seconds into the period the Eagles netted their fifth and final goal of the game when Nelson scored for the second time in the game from Tobler and Pankewicz. The game ended with a 5-2 Eagles victory.
Eagles goaltender Ryan Bach saved 14 of 16 shots on goal. The Colorado Eagles out shot the Brahmas 37 to 16 in their 5-2 win.

COACH'S SHOW
Head Coach Chris Stewart's "Coach's Show" will air today, Monday, November 17, at 5 p.m. on 1410 AM the Zone. The show is broadcast live from Bennigans in Fort Collins and is hosted by The Zone's Kevin McGlue and the Colorado Eagles play-by-play personality, Tori Holt. This week's "Coach's Show" will consist of commentary on the Colorado Eagles Friday night match up against the New Mexico Scorpions, Saturday's face off at Lubbock with the Cotton Kings, and Sunday's game against the Fort Worth Brahmas. Forward, Cam Kuzyk (who did color commentary with Tori Holt over the weekend) will be on the show to share his opinion on the weekend's games. A couple players will also be there to discuss the games as well. Fans are encouraged to come to Bennigans to listen to the show, and if they cannot make it they can always call in with questions.

Colorado Eagles Help Holiday Hope Soar: The wives of Colorado Eagles players along with members of the Eagles Foundation will be collecting donations to make Christmas special for four different families (one family Windsor, one in Greeley, one in Loveland, and one in Fort Collins). For every donation fans will be entered into a nightly drawing for a jersey and a hockey stick.
Toy Drive: Fans can bring new toys to the Budweiser Events Center to donate to children to help make more children's holiday wishes come true.
Teddy Bear Toss, 11/28 AT GAME: Fans can bring new stuffed animals to the game to throw onto the ice. The animals will be donated to the children spending their holidays in local area hospitals and there will be teddy bears available for purchase at the game as well.
OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS:
11/20 BEATTIE ELEMTARY â Two players will go to Beattie Elementary, at 5:30 p.m. to teach students about hockey, and pick one student to dress in hockey gear.
11/20 MODE â J Pitner Clothing Company (in Old Town) is hosting a benefit for United Way from 6 p.m. â 10 p.m. Eagles players will be present to model/auction off jerseys.
11/21 SKATE WITH THE EAGLES â Season ticket holders can present their "skate with the Eagles" ticket after Friday night's game to skate with the team. Fans must provide their own skates, helmets are encouraged and sticks are NOT allowed.
11/22 JR REPORTER â Colorado Eagles will host Jonathon (JJ) Pelnar (a student at Erwin Middle School) as a Junior Report at the Budweiser Events Center Saturday night when the Eagles take on the Indianapolis Ice.
11/24 WEBER JR HIGH â Colorado Eagles players, Head Coach Chris Stewart, and Ralph Backstrom will read to students at 1:15 p.m. at Weber Junior High.
