THE WEEK AHEAD

Saturday, November 22nd @ Columbus Cottonmouths 7:30pm Columbus Civic Center

This is the fourth meeting between the Inferno and Cottonmouths this season. The Inferno is 2-0-1 against Columbus this year and 14-4-1 overall. Columbus is tied for sixth place with 7 points in the Central Division of the Western Conference with a record of 3-11-1.

Sunday, November 23rd @ Greenville Grrrowl 2:30pm Bi-Lo Center

The Inferno is 1-0-0 against the Grrrowl this season and 13-4-1 overall. Greenville is in eighth place in the Southern Division with three points and a record of 1-8-1.

LAST WEEK Friday, November 14th COLUMBIA 4 Columbus 2

Newcomer Brandon Nolan scored two goals to lift the Inferno past the Cottonmouths 4-2. Nolan played his first game with the Inferno when he was assigned by the Manitoba Moose (AHL). Sean Owens scored his second goal of the season as he put the Inferno on the board at 14:43 of the first period. Tim Smith and Barrie Moore had the assist. Chris Pittman scored shorthanded when he stole the puck on the blue line and slapped it past goaltender Olivier Michaud at 16:34 of the second period. Columbus would not let the Inferno increase their lead as they scored the next two goals to tie the game at two. Nolan scored the game-winning goal on a pass from Robin Carruthers at 11:50 to give the Inferno a one-goal lead. At 19:13, Smith stole the puck and passed it to Nolan who one-timed it into the net. Josh Blackburn earned his fifth win of the season stopping 28 of 30 shots. Columbia had 37 shots on goal.

Saturday, November 8th COLUMBIA 3 Greensboro 2

Terry Harrison scored the game-winning goal at 16:58 of the second period as the Inferno gain two points in the Southern Division of the Eastern Conference. Chris Pittman started the scoring off on the power play at 2:27 of the first period with passes from Derek Eastman and Corey Hessler. Greensboro then answered with two goals to end the first period 2-1. Hessler scored his third goal of the season at 3:49 of the second period to tie the game at two a piece. Pittman had the assist. Alex Burrows passed the puck to Harrison for the game-winning goal to seal the game for the Inferno. Josh Blackburn was solid between the pipes, stopping 38 of 40 shots on goal.

Wednesday, November 26th: Dad's – Bring your family to Turkey Bowling Night and let Mom get ready for Thanksgiving: The Harvest Hope will be here collecting food for the holiday season. Fans are encouraged to bring canned food for the needy.

Friday, November 28th: Toys for Tots...Season of Giving. Dad's – bring your kids to the game and let Mom shop all day long...Fans are asked to bring a toy to donate to the Toys for Tots program. Marines will be here to help collect the toys.

Friday, December 5th: 89.7 WMHK's Bears for Caring – Bring a teddy bear and after the first goal the Inferno score you can throw the bear on the ice as a donation to 89.7 WMHK's Bears for Caring program. These bears will be distributed throughout the Midlands.
