WEEKLY SUMMARY: The Johnstown Chiefs (10-3-1; 21 PTS; 1st Northern div.) had a very successful week as they went 3-0-1 and got seven out of a possible eight points on the week. The Chiefs are now in first place in the Northern division leading second place Atlantic City by three points. The Chiefs will play their next six out of seven games at home beginning with a pair of home games this weekend against Wheeling (Friday) and Dayton (Saturday).

GAME #11 (11/12/03) Johnstown 2 - ATLANTIC CITY 0 Notermann Goal, Assist

The Johnstown Chiefs posted their second shutout of the season on Wednesday night with a 2-0 win over the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at Boardwalk Hall. Shawn Mather and Jason Notermann were the Chiefs goal scorers. Cory Campbell picked up the win stopping 23 Bullies shots.

GAME #12 (11/14/03) JOHNSTOWN 3 - Wheeling 1 Kelly Two Assists

In front of the largest crowd ever to watch an ECHL game at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, the Johnstown Chiefs picked up their ninth win of the season, with a 3-1 victory over the visiting Wheeling Nailers. The standing room only crowd of 4,191 came to their feet when the Chiefs jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals by Jason Notermann and Steve Hildenbrand. Shawn Mather added a third period goal. Dan Ennis scored the lone Wheeling goal. Chiefs goaltender Arturs Irbe picked up his seventh win of the season making 17 saves. Wheeling goaltender Tyler MacKay made 26 saves in the contest.

GAME #13 (11/15/03) CINCINNATI 2 - Johnstown 1 (SO) Tarabrin Goal

The Johnstown Chiefs extended their unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1) as they fell to the Cincinnati Cyclones 2-1 in a shootout, Saturday night at the U.S. Bank Arena. With the shootout loss the Chiefs moved into sole possession of first place in the Northern division as Atlantic City was idle. The Chiefs broke the 0-0 score in the third period when Dmitri Tarabrin scored a power play goal at 6:32. Cincinnati would answer just over six minutes later when Brett Cloutier scored his first goal of the season. The teams would battle through overtime and Cincinnati would pick up the extra point in the standings when Jason Norrie scored in the sixth round of the shootout. Chiefs goaltender Arturs Irbe made 35 saves while Cyclones goaltender Randy Petruk made 24 saves. The Chiefs are now 9-3-1 on the season while Cincinnati is 6-7-0.

GAME #14 (11/16/03) Johnstown 3 - WHEELING 1 Campbell 30 Saves

The Johnstown Chiefs capped off a busy week Sunday afternoon, with a 3-1 win over the Wheeling Nailers. With the win the Chiefs extended their Northern division lead to three points over second place Atlantic City. The Chiefs opened the scoring 7:09 into the first period on a Shawn Mather goal. Wheeling tied up the game when Kamil Kuriplach scored at 9:42 of the second period. The Chiefs would close the second period with goals by Dominic Forget and Brent Bilodeau. Neither team scored in the third period. Chiefs goaltender Cory Campbell improved his record to 3-0-0 making 24 saves. Nailers goaltender Martin Brochu stopped 17 of 20 Johnstown shots.

Friday night, the Chiefs and the Wheeling Nailers (8-4-1, 17 PTS; T-3rd Northern div.) will face one another for the third time this season. The Chiefs are 58-57-15 all-time against the Nailers. Wheeling is currently tied for third place in the Northern division trailing second place Atlantic City by one point. Prior to the game, Cool 101.5 will be giving away calendars to the first 1,000 fans.

Saturday night, the Chiefs will host the Dayton Bombers (3-6-0; 6 PTS 9th Northern div.). This is the third of nine games this season between the two teams. The Chiefs are 1-1-0 against the Bombers this season and 40-43-8 all-time. Dayton is currently in last place in the Northern division. Prior to the game, Power 99.1 will be handing out power sticks to the first 500 fans.

- Last Friday night's standing room only crowd of 4,191 was the largest crowd ever to witness an ECHL game at the War Memorial.

Community Appearances

November 23rd, the Chiefs goaltenders will be conducting a goalie clinic with the players from Bishop McCort, Conemaugh Valley, and Johnstown High Schools. The event will take place from 5:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m.

November 25th, Chiefs players will be reading and meeting with students at St. Clements Elementary School in Johnstown. The players will be at the school from 1pm-2:30 p.m.
