Dragons Slay Snappers in Series Opener

June 8, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The Beloit Snappers rallied to tie the ballgame in the bottom of the 6th with two unearned runs, but would eventually fall to the Dayton Dragons by a count of 5 to 2.

The Dragons were given a strong outing from pitcher Ricky Bowen who made his first start of the season. Bowen pitched five scoreless but earned a no decision thanks to a Snappers rally in the 6th that was highlighted by a James Beresford RBI double and a solid performance by Snapper's hurler, Michael Tonkin.

Dayton quickly broke the 2-2 tie with two runs of their own in the seventh and one more for insurance in the eighth. Chase Ware then shut the door on the Snappers, earning his fourth save in the process.

The "Brodie Trophy Player of the Game" is James Beresford who had a fantastic day at shortstop, smacked a two out RBI double down the left field line and later scored a run on a wild pitch.

The Snappers will be back at home tomorrow night, looking to even the series with Dayton at one game a piece. First pitch will be at 7:00 as Miguel Munoz takes the hill for Beloit.
