Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (June 8, 2010) - The Midwest League has announced the 2010 All-Star Game rosters, and a pair of Burlington Bees, catcher Wil Myers and pitcher Bryan Paukovits, will join the Bees coaching staff among those headed to Fort Wayne's Parkview Field for the June 22 event.

Myers will be the starting catcher for the Western Division. He leads the Bees in home runs (8), RBI (37), extra-base hits (22), hits (52), walks (34), on-base percentage (.390), slugging percentage (.489), and OPS (.879). Myers, a Thomasville, North Carolina native, was selected by the Royals in the third round of the 2009 June draft. According to Baseball America, he entered the season as the top prospect among position players in the Kansas City organization.

In a rotation that opened the season with four of the system's top thirty pitching prospects, Paukovits was less of a known quantity. However, the big righty has emerged as the staff's anchor since the promotion of John Lamb. His 3.17 ERA, four quality starts, and 55 strikeouts are all best on the staff, and he ranks fourth in the Midwest League in WHIP (0.93) and third in opponents' batting average (.177). Paukovits was selected in the 44th round in 2006 and missed all of 2008 recovering from Tommy John surgery. He pitched with Idaho Falls last summer before arriving in Burlington.

Also heading to Fort Wayne will be the Bees coaching staff, who will act as the Western Division coaching staff for the game. Manager Jim Gabella, hitting coach Omar Ramirez, athletic trainer Mark Stubblefield, and strength and conditioning coach Keith Eichas will be part of the team by virtue of the Bees capturing last year's Western Division title.

The Bees open a season-long nine-game homestand tonight at Community Field with the first of three games against the Great Lakes Loons at 6:30. Be one of the first 1,000 fans through the gates on Thursday night to pick up a 2010 Bees team photo courtesy of Burlington Trailways and Photovisions.
