
River Bandits Fall in First Game of Homestand 3-0

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits were unable to score a run in their first of three games with the South Bend Silver Hawks on Tuesday. Quad Cities fell 3-0 to South Bend as they were out hit 9-4 and committed two errors in the shutout loss to the Silver Hawks.
Jorge Rondon (2-4) worked five innings in his sixth start of the season for the Bandits. Rondon surrendered just two runs, one earned, on six hits in his fourth loss of the season. Rondon's piggyback partner Michael Blazek pitched three innings in relief for Quad Cities. He allowed just one unearned run and fanned five. Aaron Terry closed out the ninth in order for the Bandits striking out one.
The River Bandits were unable to push across a run on Tuesday against South Bend as just two Bandits recorded the four hits for Quad Cities in the game. Niko Vasquez and Ryde Rodriguez each had two-hit days going 2-for-4 and 2-for-3 respectively against the Silver Hawks.
Charles Brewer (4-4) picked up his fourth win of the season by pitching six scoreless innings. Brewer punched out five and allowed just three hits in the win. Randy Rodriguez threw two innings for the Silver Hawks striking out three and surrendering just one hit. Yonata Ortega (12) set the River Bandits down in order including a strikeout in the ninth to record his 12th save of the season.
The River Bandits continue their homestand with their second game against South Bend on Wednesday night at Modern Woodmen Park. South paw Dan Calhoun (4-0) looks to stay undefeated as he heads to the mound for Quad Cities to face off with Silver Hawk right-hander Eric Smith (5-3). First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. for another Belly Buster Wednesday Night at Modern Woodmen Park.
