June 8, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Lansing Lugnuts News Release
PEORIA, Ill. - Justin Bour lined a go-ahead two-run homer and the Peoria Chiefs (31-27) scored six unanswered runs to top the Lansing Lugnuts (31-26), 7-4, on Tuesday evening at O'Brien Field.
Ryan Schimpf and Sean Ochinko each homered to help the Lugnuts build a 4-1 lead by the third inning, only to see D.J. Fitzgerald's two-out two-run double carve the lead to a run in the home half. Bour followed with a laser over the wall in left-center, his third homer of the year.
Logan Watkins added a two-run double to close out the scoring an inning later, making a winner of Peoria starter Jeffry Antigua (3-4).
Antigua allowed five extra-base hits in the first three innings, before settling down to work five solid innings with six strikeouts.
The Chiefs' bullpen took it the rest of the way, with Ronny Morla and Yohan Gonzalez combining to set down the final 12 Lugnuts batsmen of the game. Gonzalez pitched a perfect ninth for his first save.
Lansing starter Ryan Shopshire (3-5) took the loss, reached for six hits and seven runs (five earned) in 4 1/3 innings.
The two teams play the middle affair of the three-game series on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. ET. Right-hander Dave Sever (1-3, 4.50) starts for Lansing against Peoria right-hander Rob Whitenack (4-4, 6.97).
The Nuts return home on Tuesday, June 15th, for a doubleheader against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Tickets to all Lansing Lugnuts home games are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
