Silver Hawks to Host Military Appreciation Day

South Bend, IN - The South Bend Silver Hawks will host Military Appreciation Day at Coveleski Stadium on Sunday, August 22, 2010 to honor those serving our country.
Discounted tickets of $4 for Box Seats and $3 for Bleachers will be offered to any member of the military.
The Silver Hawks take on the Bowling Green Hot Rods at 2:00 p.m. (gates open at 1:00 p.m.)
From 12:30 PM through the sixth inning, a vendor's area will be open outside the stadium.
Various organizations will have tables set up to provide information and their services to those in attendance.
Fans must have a ticket for that afternoon's game to enter the vendor area.
Various ties to the military will also be present throughout the game. Military children will be introduced with the players before the game while the Clay JROTC Colorguard will also be present.
The game is also a "Canines at the Cove" day, so service members are encouraged to bring their service dogs.
The event will be put on in conjunction with the Michiana Military Support Network.
Various organizations within the South Bend and Mishawaka communities collaborate with the Michiana Military Support Network to carry out their mission, which is stated as "to build community awareness and understanding of the issues affecting veterans, service members and military families in our local communities."
Following the game, children of all ages are invited down to the field for the Post Game Run the Bases. Fans will also have the chance to play catch in the outfield. Sunday's are also Swoop's SideKick Days, where members receive unlimited play in the Applebee's Fun Zone if they wear their SideKick shirts.
The Silver Hawks just completed a 10-game home stand during which they went 6-3 with one rainout.
The team will now travel to Quad Cities, Cedar Rapids, and Great Lakes before returning home on June 18 to take on the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
