CURVE, Pa. - An early eight-run deficit was too much for the Altoona Curve offense to overcome on Tuesday night at Blair County Ballpark as the Curve fell to the Binghamton Mets, 11-6.

Starting pitcher Tim Alderson (7-5) faced seven B-Mets batters in the first inning and allowed one run on a Marshall Hubbard RBI single. After B-Mets starter Mark Cohoon set down Altoona in order in the bottom half of the first, the Mets scored four more runs off Alderson in the second.

With two on and one out in the inning, left fielder Sean Ratliff hit a three-run home run out to left-center to make it, 4-0. Nick Evans followed with a home run of his own out to left and all of the sudden it was 5-0 Binghamton.

After a quick third, Alderson ran into more trouble in the fourth and did not record an out in the inning. The Arizona native pitched 3.0+ innings and allowed eight runs on nine hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Tony Watson was called upon out of the bullpen and would pitch the remainder of the inning. Binghamton scored a total of three runs in the frame, all charged to Alderson, and led, 8-0 at the conclusion of the inning.

Altoona's offense responded in the bottom half of the fourth and finally got to Cohoon. With two on and one out, Hector Gimenez singled in Chase d'Arnaud from second base to plate the Curve's first run. Jordy Mercer followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Josh Harrison from third for Altoona's second run and it made the score, 8-2.

Miles Durham followed with a two-out single and Anthony Norman walked to load the bases for Yung-Chi Chen, who flew out to end the inning.

Watson allowed a run in the fifth but settled in to pitch three innings and allow just the one run on two hits. In the sixth, Altoona sent nine men to the dish and scored four runs to pull within three at 9-6. Anthony Norman, Chen and Gorkys Hernandez all had RBI hits in the inning. Harrison drove in the final run of the inning with a sacrifice fly. Binghamton added two runs in the top of the ninth for the, 11-6, final.

With his single in the sixth, Hernandez extended his season-high hitting streak to 10 games.
