New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Portland, ME - Shawn Bowman smashed his 14th home run and drove in four runs, and B.J. Lamura shook off a rough first inning to retire the final 16 batters he faced, earning his first win since May 29, as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 6-5, on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. By recording their fourth straight win, the Fisher Cats (51-34) moved a season-high 17 games over .500.

Travis Snider, making his return to the Fisher Cats on a Major League injury rehabilitation assignment for the Toronto Blue Jays, went 4-for-5 with three doubles, an RBI, two runs, a stolen base and a magnificent diving catch in the bottom of the sixth inning.

With the Fisher Cats trailing 3-2, Snider's two out single and stolen base in the top of fifth jump started a rally against Sea Dogs' starter Casey Kelly. Eric Thames (0-for-4, BB, R) followed Snider's steal with a walk, and Bowman (3-for-4, HR, 2B, HBP, 4 RBI) launched an 0-2 pitch over the wall in left-center for his 14th homer of the season, putting New Hampshire on top, 5-3.

Portland (41-43) plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning against LaMura to erase a 2-0 deficit, with all three runs coming home after there were two outs. Luis Exposito (1-for-4, RBI, R) had an RBI single to left that one-hopped the Maine Monster, and Chih-Hsien Chiang (2-for-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, R) knocked in a pair of runs with a bases loaded double off the wall in right, building the Sea Dogs' lead to 3-2.

LaMura (2-3) managed to get the final out of the first, and then retired the side in order for the final five innings he pitched, turning over a 6-3 lead to the bullpen in the seventh.

That's when Portland fought back for two runs against Adrian Martin on a two-out, two-run single delivered by Nate Spears (1-for-4, 2 RBI) on a bases-loaded payoff pitch, slicing the Fishers' lead to 6-5.

Trystan Magnuson entered the game, induced an inning-ending pop-up with the tying run on third and finished with three strikeouts in 2.1 perfect innings of relief to notch his fourth save in five opportunities.

LaMura allowed three runs on three hits, a walk and a hit batsman in six innings, with three strikeouts.

The Fisher Cats nabbed a 2-0 lead against Kelly (1-4) in the top of the first when Darin Mastroianni (2-for-5, 2B, R) led off the game with a double and scored when Snider roped a double to right. Snider came across with the second run when Bowman doubled off the Maine Monster.

Adeiny Hechavarria's sixth-inning sacrifice fly gave New Hampshire a 6-3 lead. All six runs were earned against Kelly, who fanned a season-best eight batters, but also yielded seven hits and walked three in 5.1 innings to suffer his fourth loss of the year.

On Wednesday night, the Fisher Cats bid for their fifth consecutive win when they meet the Sea Dogs for game three of their four-game series with New Hampshire right-hander Randy Boone (2-3, 3.45) making the start against Portland righty Alex Wilson (0-2, 8.68) in a 7:00pm game. Fisher Cats Pre-Game gets underway at 6:45pm with Bob Lipman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
