New Promotions Added; Weird Contest Week Returns

(TRENTON, NJ) The Trenton Thunder, Double A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced on Tueday that four new theme nights and the team's second annual Weird Contest Week have been added to the team's promotional slate.

Mustache Bash, Monday, July 26 at 7:05 PM - Famous Yankees such as Thurman Munson, Don Mattingly and Goose Gossage have all sported a mustache. The Thunder will pay homage to the Yankee stars when they celebrate the 'stache for the second year in a row. The team will honor and recognize famous mustaches throughout history, and fans with a mustache will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, popcorn, and soda. Fans can nominate themselves for the "Wildest 'Stache of the Night" Award by visiting the AAA Guest Services Center on the main concourse. The Thunder staff will select three nominees to be judged by the entire Waterfront Park crowd, with the winner receiving a ball signed by "The Wild Thing" Mitch Williams.

Thunder Beach Party, Sunday, August 8 at 5:05 PM - Fans are encouraged to wear their Hawaiian shirts, flip flops, board shorts and have some fun with beach themed entertainment throughout the night.

1980's Night, Saturday, August 14 at 7:05 PM - Fans are asked to dig deep into their closets and come dressed in their finest 1980's attire. This is the second annual 80's celebration and will feature music, videos and other totally awesome excitement.

Super Hero Night, Sunday, August 15 at 5:05 PM - A night to celebrate your favorite fictitious crime-fighters. Fans are encouraged to come dressed as a super hero. If fans do not own a super hero outfit they are encouraged to make up their own super hero. In addition, the first 1,500 fans will receive a Thunder Comic Book when they enter the stadium.

The Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles) will visit Trenton, August 17th to 19th, which marks the return of Trenton Thunder Weird Contest Week. The team is paying tribute once again to the annual event that is celebrated each year in places like Ocean City, NJ.

Hot Dog Eating Contest, Tuesday, August 17 at 7:05 PM - Twelve participants will devour hot dogs and hope to be crowned the champion of the Second Annual Trenton Thunder Hot Dog Eating Contest. The amateur competitive eaters will have ten minutes to eat as many hot dogs (and buns) as they can. The contestant with the most hot dogs (including the bun) eaten without it exiting their stomach during a ten minute time period will be named the winner. Interested fans can register for the contest by emailing fun@trentonthunder.com. Important: Fans participating in the hot dog eating contest MUST have a ticket to the game.

Fans who are not registered for the contest can still take part in the fun - it's a $1 Hot Dog Tuesday with hot dogs at the concession stands available for just $1 all game long.

Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament, Wednesday, August 18 at 7:05 PM - For the second straight year, the Thunder will hold a Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament officially endorsed by the World Rock, Paper, Scissors Society. On August 18th, players from around the world will descend upon Waterfront Park for the ultimate contest of decision making and chance. The tournament will be a single-elimination bracket-style tournament. Each match is made up of three sets, with each set consisting of three games. The format is best-of-three. Official rules can be found at the World RPS Society's website, www.worldrps.com. Space is limited so email fun@trentonthunder.com to register today. Important: Fans participating in the RPS Tournament MUST have a ticket to the game.

August 18 is also the team's annual Football Kickoff Game and fans are asked to wear their favorite football jersey to the game. Swoop and cheerleaders from the Philadelphia Eagles will be at the game for photos and autographs. One lucky fan will win a Mitsubishi 60" 3D Capable HDTV thanks to Mrs. G TV & Appliances.

Fashion Fopaux Night, Thursday, August 19 at 7:05 PM - The fashion police will be out in full force on August 19, but this time they'll be rewarding fans who come dressed in socks with sandals, fanny packs, jean shorts, popped collars and other fashion no-nos. The more fashion "rules" that are broken, the more prizes a fan can win! Adding to the fun, it's a Thirsty Thursday presented by Budweiser and the game will be followed by the final fireworks show of the year thanks to the Burlington County Times. Bud and Bud Lights are available for just $2 from 6:05 pm until the middle of the 5th inning.
