Thunder Receive Kontos From Tampa

(TRENTON, NJ) The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees announced today that RHP George Kontos has been added to the roster. Additionally RHP Tim Norton has been placed on the disabled list with an undisclosed injury.

Kontos is working his way back after undergoing Tommy John surgery last season. He has appeared in five games for High-A Tampa and is 0-1 with a 2.61 ERA. Last season, Kontos went a combined 4-5 with a 3.15 ERA in 13 games between Trenton and Triple-A Scranton.

Norton has appeared in six games for the Thunder since being promoted to Trenton on June 16. With the Thunder, Norton is 1-0 with a 0.90 ERA and has struck out 15 batters in ten innings of work.

The Thunder play the second game of their four game series against the Aeros tonight in Akron at 7:05 PM. LHP Wilkin de la Rosa makes the start for the Thunder, while Akron goes with LHP Scott Barnes. All the action can be heard live on 107.7 FM or online at www.trentonthunder.com.
