
Christian Walker Powers Tides to 7-3 Win

Christian Walker homered and drove in three, helping power the Tides to a 7-3 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox Monday night at Harbor Park.
Walker plated a run in the first inning on a groundout and singled home a run in the second inning before leading off the fifth with a solo homer off of Jess Todd (3-4) - his eighth long ball of the season. Walker, the #3 prospect in the Orioles system according to Baseball America, has now hit .333 (6-18) with three home runs and eight RBI over his last four contests.
Rey Navarro also belted a solo homer in the win, as Norfolk won the opener of the four-game set. Navarro, who registered three hits in the contest, has now hit safely in five straight games and 12 of his last 13. Over that 13-game span, Navarro has hit .345 (20-58) with three home runs, seven RBI and 10 runs scored.
Chris Jones (6-4) earned the win after allowing three runs on seven hits over 7.0 innings of work. Jones struck out three and walked one as he improved to 5-0 with a 3.00 ERA (15 ER, 45.0 IP) over his last seven starts. The 26-year-old southpaw now owns a 2.79 ERA through 21 games (12 starts) this year - 8th-best in the International League.
Jackie Bradley Jr. homered twice to lead Pawtucket, which has now dropped 14 of its last 17 games.
The two clubs continue their four-game series on Tuesday night at Harbor Park, with first pitch slated for 7:05. Mike Wright (6-0, 2.96) gets the start for Norfolk against right-hander Keith Couch (4-8, 5.56).
Notes: After Monday night's contest with Pawtucket, Norfolk has now played every team in the IL this season...With the win, the Tides improved to 21-11 against the IL North...Michael Almanzar doubled and scored and has now hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games...The four homers hit were the most in a game at Harbor Park this season...The time of game was two hours and nine minutes...Norfolk matched a season-high by turning four double plays.
