Ortiz Named Batavia Downs Player of the Week

Rochester Red Wings outfielder Danny Ortiz been named the Batavia Downs Gaming and Racetrack Player of the Week for the period of July 13-19.

Ortiz batted .333 (5-for-15) for the week, with 2 homers, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored. He has been among the league leaders in RBI and extra-base hits for most of the season, and enters play Monday tied for third in the league with 53 RBI.

Selected by the Minnesota Twins in the fourth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft out of Benjamin Harrison High School in Caguas, Puerto Rico...Hit his first career grand slam to help the Wings win at home June 19 last season vs. Pawtucket, then hit another slam July 20 at Norfolk.

Batavia Downs Racetrack and Batavia Downs Gaming present the award each week during the regular season. Batavia Downs Gaming is a Video Gaming Center owned and operated by Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation in association with the New York Lottery. Western OTB is a public benefit corporation in the State of New York.
