Toledo Mud Hens News Release
In their first game on the road since the All Star break, the Mud Hens kicked off their series in Lehigh Valley with a win over the IronPigs. Toledo collected their second straight victory, and their first of the season against Lehigh Valley. Shut out through five innings, the Mud Hens put up four runs in the sixth inning to catapult them to a 5-1 victory.
Tim Melville started on the mound for Toledo, and threw five strong frames. He walked in a run in the fifth inning, but then struck out Jordan Danks to end the inning and his outing. Overall, Melville struck out four batters and didn't allow a single earned run. He earned his fourth win of the season.
The offense lifted Melville up in the top half of the sixth. Dixon Machado led off the inning with a single, and then Steven Moya hit his fourteenth home run of the season to put the Mud Hens up 2-1. Alexi Casilla hit a two out RBI double to give Toledo a 3-1 lead, and then Daniel Fields singled to score Casilla and cap of the inning. In the ninth inning, Toledo scored their final run of the night courtesy of an RBI single from Corey Jones.
The Mud Hens' bullpen was lights out against the IronPigs. Angel Nesbitt followed Melville in the sixth inning, and threw two scoreless innings while striking out a batter. Guido Knudson formed the latter part of the one-two punch of Toledo's bullpen brigade on Monday night. He came on in the eighth inning and threw two scoreless innings to shut Lehigh Valley down.
Quick turnaround for the Mud Hens as Toledo takes on the IronPigs on Tuesday morning at 11:35 a.m.
