Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

PAPILLION, NEB. - The Omaha Storm Chasers and Columbus Clippers played a close game in the first half but a seven-run fifth inning for Columbus and led to a 10-2 series-opening loss for Omaha.

Storm Chasers starting pitcher Jonathan Bowlan kept the Clippers to just one run over the first four innings, a solo home run in the third inning. After CJ Alexander opened the top of the fifth inning with a single, he came around to score on a Columbus error, but the Storm Chasers left the bases loaded.

A pair of singles in the bottom of the fifth gave Columbus the lead against Bowlan, who got a pair of outs and was removed, when the game began to spiral.

Christian Chamberlain faced four batters and could not get an out, with all four eventually coming around to score. Jonah Dipoto allowed a walk and pair of hits behind Chamberlain, to cap a seven-run inning that gave the Clippers a conformable lead the rest of the game.

Columbus added a run in the sixth against Brad Keller, who worked out of a bases-loaded jam to hold the Clippers to just a run.

Omaha loaded the bases in the eighth on a single and pair of walks, then Nick Loftin was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the team's second run of the game.

Collin Snider fired a 1-2-3 seventh inning for Omaha and Steven Cruz allowed a run in the eighth, but the Storm Chasers went quietly in the top of the ninth, retired in order for the first time all night to end the game.

While the team was held to just five hits, two of which came from Nate Eaton, the Storm Chasers also drew eight walks, but left nine runners on in the loss.

Omaha will try and bounce back Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. CT with left-hander Angel Zerpa headed to the mound at Huntington Park.
