January 3, 2019 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are excited to announce that Cam Brown has been selected as CCM ECHL Player of the Month for December.
Brown, 25, led the ECHL with 17 assists and 26 points in December, while helping the Nailers to eight of their nine wins during the month, as they made the climb into a tie for third place in the Central Division. After being held scoreless in the opening contest of the month, Cam found the scoresheet at least once in each of the next 12 games. The Natick, Massachusetts native posted a pair of four-point games, dishing out four assists against Indy on December 9th, before tallying two goals and two assists on December 15th against Norfolk. The second year forward is second in Wheeling scoring this season with 34 points, while also places him in a tie for ninth place in the league. In 85 career games as a Nailer, Brown has amassed 25 goals, 62 assists, and 87 points.
Cam Brown becomes the fifth player in team history to win CCM ECHL Player of the Month, joining Steve Gibson (March, 1997), Brendon Hodge (April, 2006), Tommy Goebel (October, 2008), and Ben Street (December, 2010). This is the sixth league award won by the Nailers this season, as Brown and Nick Saracino were named ECHL Player of the Week twice each (shared the award once), Troy Josephs won ECHL Player of the Week once, and Nick Saracino was a co-recipient of ECHL Plus Player of the Month in December.
The Nailers will play at home on Thursday at 7:05 against the Toledo Walleye. The next big promotional game is Nickelodeon Night Featuring SpongeBob & Patrick, when Wheeling hosts the Indy Fuel on January 12th. That game is also Scout Night. The Wheeling Nailers, considered one of the top things to do in Wheeling, West Virginia, provide affordable family entertainment for fans throughout the Ohio Valley.
