Blues Assign Derek Armstrong

ST. LOUIS (March 3, 2010) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has assigned forward Derek Armstrong to the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Armstrong, 36, made his Blues debut on December 31, and has appeared in six games this season in which he has recorded two penalty minutes. He has played in 30 games this season with Peoria, registering 22 points (14 goals, eight assists) along with ten penalty minutes.

Armstrong played in 56 games with the Los Angeles Kings last season, recording nine points (five goals, four assists) and 63 penalty minutes. The 6-0, 197-pound center has played in 471 NHL games, amassing 221 points (72 goals, 149 assists) and 353 penalty minutes.

The Ottawa, Ontario native was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the sixth round, 128th overall in the 1992 Entry Draft.
