Montreal Acquires Aaron Palushaj From St. Louis

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Pierre Gauthier announced that the club has acquired forward Aaron Palushaj from the St. Louis Blues, in return for forward Matt D'Agostini. Palushaj has been assigned to Hamilton.
Palushaj, 20, has played in 44 games with the Peoria Rivermen in his rookie season in the AHL this year recording 22 points (five goals, 17 assists) and serving 22 penalty minutes. Following the conclusion of his season with the University of Michigan Wolverines in 2008-2009, the 6-foot, 183-pound right wing played in four regular season games with the Rivermen recording two goals and posting four penalty minutes and four post-season games earning an assist and two penalty minutes. The native of Northville, Michigan was a teammate of Bulldogs forward Max Pacioretty on the Wolverines for the 2007-2008 season and in 2009 was voted to the CCHA All-Star Team and to the NCAA West First All-American Team. Palushaj was drafted in the 2nd round, 44th overall by the Blues in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
D'Agostini, 23, played in 40 games with the Canadiens this year recording four points (two goals, two assists) and serving 26 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 198-pound right wing also played in three games with the 'Dogs this season recording one assist and two penalty minutes. In 162 career games with Hamilton, the native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario registered 128 points (58 goals, 70 assists) and 89 penalty minutes. D'Agostini was selected in the 6th round, 190th overall by Montreal in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
