Bulldogs Haunt Phantoms With 4-1 Win

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Adirondack Phantoms 4-1 on Wednesday night at Copps Coliseum. J.T. Wyman recorded a hat-trick for the ‘Dogs while Cedrick Desjardins made 25 saves in the win.

Hamilton got on the scoreboard first at 16:54 of the opening period. P.K. Subban received the puck from Ryan White before firing a shot towards the net. While positioned in front of the net, Wyman redirected the shot past the glove of Adirondack starting goaltender Johan Backlund.

The Phantoms tied the game 1-1 at 9:13 of the second stanza. Sean Curry blasted a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle that bounced off the goal post and onto the stick of Mika Pyorala. Pyorala fired a shot past a sprawling Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins.

The Bulldogs took a 2-1 lead at 5:30 of the final frame. Ryan Russell fired a shot on net that was stopped by Johan Backlund. The goaltender could not contain the rebound, which Wyman grabbed and shovelled past Backlund and into the net. The ‘Dogs increased their lead to 3-1 at 14:41. While skating in on a two-on-one, Ben Maxwell fed the puck across to Ryan Russell, who one-timed a shot past Backlund. Wyman scored his third goal of the game at 18:31 with an empty net tally. Wyman received the puck from Desharnais before releasing a shot from the neutral zone into the empty net to seal the victory.

The Bulldogs host the Chicago Wolves in a battle of the top two teams in the Western Conference on Friday, March 5th at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
